What Are My Next Steps?

The God-First Life Equation

God First Life Equation

Spring Valley Church Exists to Help People Live God-First Lives

Spring Valley Church exists to help YOU live a God-first life.  Our strategy to do that is to help you take a series of “Next Steps.”

Think of these steps like a God-first life equation, a formula to put God first.

Gathering + Giving = Growing + Going

    • Gathering
      • Sunday Worship & Life Groups
        • Sunday Worship – Attending Sunday services regularly
        • Life Groups – Joining a Life Group and getting connected through Bible studies, fellowships, seminars
    • Giving
      • Time & Treasure
        • Time – Serving in ministry with your time and talents
        • Treasure – Giving regularly of tithes and offerings
    • Growing
      • Preparing
        • Experiencing personal growth and becoming equipped for ministry
    • Going
      • Sharing
        • Sharing your faith with others

The first part of the equation is to gather regularly each Sunday to worship the Lord.  Hebrews 10:24-25 states “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (NIV).  It is so very important that we gather together regularly to lift our voices in praise and worship together and in unity.  It is also an opportunity for others in Christ to encourage you, pray for you, and get to know you.

Along with regular worship, getting involved in a Life Group can be life-changing.  You will get to know others who have similar interests as you study God’s Word and do other activities together.  Spring Valley has many different Life Groups to choose from, including groups for men, women, and other special interests.  Through our Life Groups, you will develop lasting friendships and bonds.

Connect with Life Group

We give to God in two main ways:  with our time and with our finances.  We can give God our time by serving on a ministry team.  Whether you realize it or not, you have gifts that are perfect for ministry.  Maybe you are musically inclined, love to teach, have a passion for kids, or are just great with people.  There is a ministry that is just right for you to get involved in.  Operating in your gifts and using them for God’s kingdom is one of the most rewarding things you can do.

In addition to our time, it is important to honor God with our finances.  Faithful stewardship enables Spring Valley Church to continue its work for God’s kingdom in our community and beyond.  Spring Valley Church gives to missions both locally and abroad.  Together with you we can make the greatest impact.  The Word of God says “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7 (NIV).  The Bible also speaks of tithing 10% to the Lord (see Malachi 3:10, Deuteronomy 12:11 & 14:22, Matthew 23:23).  If you do not currently give, we ask that you would consider taking the first step and give some small amount.  If you have given in the past, then consider taking the next step and giving regularly.  If you are one who gives regularly but you do not tithe, we ask that you would consider taking the step of faith to trust God and begin tithing 10%.  If you are a regular tither, then prayerfully consider giving above and beyond the tithe to God’s kingdom work.

Serve in a Ministry Team

We begin to experience spiritual growth as a result of taking these series of steps.  We find our lives transformed as we become empowered with inner strength through His Spirit, and we begin to accomplish infinitely more than we could ever think.

Living ‘God-first’ is never just about ourselves.  We want to invite others to take the journey with us.  At Spring Valley Church, we want to create a safe place for you to bring your family and friends so that they can learn about life and hope in Jesus, and begin to experience Him personally.

God tells us in His Word that we are to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19).  We do this with our words and our actions.  We can share His love and be an example in our homes, our workplaces, and everywhere.  Faith comes from hearing God’s message, and we are the messengers that God uses to reach others.
